Lost your faith in Christ/God? Proverbs 2:11

Lost your faith in Christ/God? Proverbs 2:11

Lost your faith? Lost hope in God? Falling or backsliding away from God? If you are, you are more likely lacking these two things found in verse 11.

If you want to know how to get those things which will ALWAYS keep you close to God ( it’s a promise from God ), then read from verse 1 down to 11, in Proverbs chapter 2.

Because if you don’t, verses 12-22 explains all the troubles, heart-aches, and turmoils that WILL lay ahead of you until death, herself, takes you.

So I encourage you brother or sister who is hurting and running from The Lord, to stop, be still and know that He is God and begin to learn from Him that like verse 11 says, you too can be preserved from evil by discretion and the understanding that God gives you shall keep you safe from the traps, trips, and tricks that the devil lays before you to take ur faith away!

If this blessed you, or you know of someone that this will help or bless too, please share this one on your own Facebook page!

God Bless from the Real Life Ministries Team!

Old Testament Vs. the Koran

Old Testament Vs. the Koran

Not surprisingly, perhaps, these defining laws closely parallel Augustine’s “just war” conditions in the Western Christian tradition. Jihad is only to be conducted under the proper governmental authorization; it must avoid harm to noncombatants, hostages, prisoners, and property ( especially trees and landscape ), and its ultimate goal must be to secure justice and peace. For Islam, however, the causes of justice and peace are synonymous with the advance of muslim state, for politics and spirituality are inextricably bound together in the dream of one world under the complete reign of Allah and his followers. Thus, whereas “just war” principles do not in theory support the notion of establishing the kingdom of God by force, the Islamic doctrine of jihad unapologetically does so.
That this is true can be seen from the disparate responses of the two religions to the record of violence for political ends in their respective historical traditions. When the church has looked backed on its dalliances with coercive power reflected in the Crusades, the Inquisition, and the like, its response in generally one of shame and repentance, for the teachings of Jesus eschew force as a mean of accomplishing God’s will on earth.  When the church loses it focus on the fact that the kingdom of God is established by divine agency and not by human power, that Jesus declared his Kingdom is not “of this world,” that “those who live by the sword will die by the sword,” that the terms of conquest employed by Jesus were self-sacrificing love and not application of military, economic, or social power, that is when it has turned to the methods of the world around it, with disastrous consequences.
By contrast, when the ummah of Islam faces its history of coercion and expansion, there is no corresponding shame or repentance, for Islam teaches in its most authoritative sources that force it justifiable in the cause of Allah. Indeed, many Muslims look back on the first three centuries of Islam as the golden years of their heritage and long for a return to world ascendancy. Far from feeling regret over past conquests, Islam takes pride in this heritage.

Explaining Old Testament Violence

Critics of Christianity point out that the old testament historical books portray God as commanding Israel to military violence that was every bit as bloody as anything in the Koran. True Enough. But there are some vital differences to consider.

(1) The commands are framed in terms of divine judgement on the peagan nations inhabiting the Promised Land. Israel is to drive out these nations not only to possess the land herself, but as an expression of the holiness of God. She(Israel) is further warned that if she fails to obey God, she too will be driven from the land.

(2) Once in Canaan (the promise land), Israel was never commanded to engage in the systematic conquest of the rest of the world. Rather, she is called, through her life with God to act as a light to the nations, who through her holy example should be drawn to worship of the one true God.

(3) The history of Israel as a political nation has limited application to the purpose of the church in the world today. The primary battle of the church is summed up in Ephesians 6:10-18, reminding us that our figfht is not against flesh and blood but rather against the spiritual powers of darkness. Compare the first three centuries of Islamic expansion, and you will quickly see the empirical difference between how the two faiths propagated themselves — Islam, in large measure by the threat or exercise of force; Christianity, by peaceful proclamation and the example of love.

The Contrasting View of Muhammad and Jesus

Two closing illustrations will show the stark contrast of perspective between the founders of each religion in question. When Jesus was arrested at the Garden of Gethsemane, the disciples grabbed their swords. Peter actually unsheathed his and struck off the ear of one opponent. Jesus immediately commanded His followers to calm down and decleared that violence is not the appropriate means to accomplish His Father’s will. According to Matthew 26:53, Jesus claimed that if he wanted to win a military victory, all He needed to do was call on His Father, “who will at once put an army at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels.” But He did not. Instead, rebellion was met with love, animosity with forgiveness.
Moreover, while hanging on the cross, Jesus prayed to His Father on behalf of those who had shown themselves to be enemies, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34). Love for enemies, sacrifice for their reconciliation to God, is the way of Jesus.

According Sahih al-Bukhari (4:280b), one of serveral oft-repeated stories Muhammad reads thus :

Anas bin Malik said, ” Allah’s Apostle (Muhammad) entered Mecca in the year of the conquest of Mecca wearing a helment over his head.”After he took it off, a man came and said, ” Ibn Khatal [a pagan opponent] is clinging to the curtains of the  Ka’aba [a recognized behavior for seeking mercy]. ” The Prophet said, “KILL HIM.”

While there is certainly room for debate over how ell throughout history Christians and Muslims have followed the teachings of their respective leaders, there is no doubt over the contrasting visions of Jesus and Muhammad as to how the kingdom o fGod should be advanced on earth. So, while the Augustinian just war theory has played a relatively minor role in the spread of Christianity across the globe, jihad has been at the heart of Islam’s expansion…………

……..While we cannot decide for the Islamic world which path it will choose, we can choose our own path, the way of the cross, the life-style that is willing to give itself away for the welfare of others, even those who call us “enemy”. Such is the way of Jesus. Such must be the way of His people!

Love or Tolerance

A Pastor wrote this and i agree with what they wrote 100%. I hope this blesses you as much as it did me!

Body: Love or Tolerance

Recently there has been a call for tolerance for the sake of harmony, co-existence or unity in human relations. The purpose of this writing is to show divine love, not tolerance, is the perfect bond of unity {Col 3:14). For years the “liberal church” has been practicing tolerance while the more “conservative church” has lost its appeal to the majority of the people.

What is tolerance? Tolerance has many different meanings depending on the context in which it is used. The kind of tolerance that carnal minded men of the world are calling for, and that which has been practiced in the popular liberal “churches,” seems to mean the ability to vary from a pre-set standard or practice. For example, the popular church has exchanged judgment of un-repented sins for tolerance and allowed such sins as homosexually in their “church.” The popular church has not only allowed this, they have also accepted homosexuals as pastors and teachers; and allowed them to hold other church offices as well. Same sex marriages, fornication, adultery, living together out of wedlock, un-wed mothers, irresponsible fathers and many more un-repented sins have been tolerated by the popular liberal church; and they have done all this in the name of love. It is sad but true that many of the conservative churches are also becoming more tolerant of sin for the sake of gaining or maintaining membership. When a congregation of people who call themselves a “church” allows sin to come in it is likened unto a ship upon the sea that begins to take on water. Such a “church” loses it’s effectiveness in the community. Jesus said, “You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has become tasteless, how will it be made salty again? It is good for nothing anymore, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men (Matt. 5:13NASU).”

It is evident that most people today, in or out of the church, do not know true love. Love is not sex, hugs, kisses, sugar and spice and every thing nice; such things should be classified as affections of the flesh, romance or lust; such things are of the carnal mind or fleshly. To teach such things or to promote tolerance does not lead to either unity or love. What such teachings do lead to is evident in the present lustful immoral society.

Now that we know what tolerance is and what love is not, we might ask; what is love—and, what is loves standard?? The standard for love was set in the Garden of Eden. In the beginning when God had created man, figuratively speaking, He drew a line in the sand; and He declared that inside the line is His love; outside the line is sin. Inside the line are eternal life, peace and prosperity; outside the line are adversity, despair and death. When man allowed the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life {1 John 2:16} to lure him outside the line he was judged by the line he had crossed {James 1:14-15}. When he did not have sorrowful regret, remorsefulness or repentance he was not allowed to cross back over the line; thus he suffered the consequences of his crossing the line. The line is the eternal, never changing word of God. God, by His word sets the standard for love, and it is also His word by which sin is defined and judged.

Judgment is the process through which the purity of the kingdom of God is preserved. Sin is defined, judged, condemned and cast out by the word of God, there-by preserving the purity of the kingdom {see Gen. 3; & 1 Cor. 5 & 6}. Thus judgment is an act of love, mercy and grace protecting all that live in the kingdom from the destruction of sin. Because of God’s love for His children He has a zero tolerance for sin. God’s church, His children, is His kingdom and His Word is His law. The Word of God is the “Corner Stone,” the “Rock” and foundation of the children of His kingdom and the destructive forces of sin will not prevail against them. All who live in His kingdom have been, by grace through faith, born of His law; and by grace through faith, live by the rule of His law; and by grace through faith, are protected by His law.

Now to answer the question, what is divine love? God is love; and so divine love is the essence of or essential nature of God; and is an indispensable asset that identifies God. In summary, divine love expresses and is the very character of God. God is life; there is no death in Him. Therefore God is eternal life. He that has love has eternal life; he that abides in sin abides in death and the love of God is not in him.

God’s word is the image, the exact representation and complete expression of God. To be obedient to His word is to abide in eternal love and life. He who lives in love lives in God and he does not cross over the line; he does not sin; the Spirit of love empowers him to obey all the commandments of God; he who has love has a infinite esteem or regard for his fellow man and he does not murder, commit adultery, steal, bear false witness against his neighbor (lie), he does not covet his neighbors spouse, or anyone else of his neighbors household, or anything that belongs to his neighbor, he loves his Lord God with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his mind, and all his strength and he loves his neighbor as he loves himself. All these things results in more than a peaceful co-existence, they result in patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control and a life of love, joy and peace {Gal. 5:22}.

God is mans Creator; man was created by Love and in the image of Love; he was created to love and for Love. The spirit of love in a person born of God eagerly desires the affections and fellowship of the spirit of love in others and with God; thus love is the adhesive that bonds and holds us together. Also, the spirit of love in a person has a deep compassionate concern for the souls of those who do not know God. Love is manifested and expressed as the nature, attribute or character of God. “Love is patient, love is kind, and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love is steadfast, faithful, everlasting, and eternal; love never fails; (1 Cor. 13:4-8fNAS).

Love has mercy. Because of His great love for man God has mercy; and mercy has grace or un-earned, un-deserved favor {Eph. 2:4-10}. We find this great love, mercy and grace at Mt. Calvary on the cross where the Son of God died in our stead. In the work of the cross God has prepared an entrance into His kingdom of love. Christ Jesus is the entrance or door into the presence of God. To enter this Door one must first see his own pitiful and hopeless conditions and desire to leave the world of sin and have a longing for the kingdom of God. God’s word and the work of the Holy Spirit of God reveals sin to those whom He calls; this is the gift of faith. God’s grace working through this gift of faith gives us of His Spirit who pours out God’s love in our heart {soul} bringing us to sorrowful repentance of sin. Upon repentance {turning away from sin and turning toward God through faith} there is a cleansing from sin through the work of our Lord’s cross, the shedding of His blood and the giving of His life in death for our sake. We enter through the Door, that is the Word of God, Christ Jesus Himself; He is the Door of judgment where no sin can enter in; there is no other way except through Him. He is our eternal rest; He is our Garden of Eden, the place where we live eternally in the presence of our loving Father; love from God is the perfect bond of unity.

I cannot think of anything on this Earth more serious than the salvation of one that’s lost, and on the road to destruction. Can you?

This should be on our minds and hearts all the day long! This is what we’re to do.

Mark 16: 15-18-
15-And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.  16He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.  17And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;  18They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Amen. Now it’s up to you…

THE (SCIENTIFIC) DEATH OF JESUS

THE (SCIENTIFIC) DEATH OF JESUS

At the age of 33, Jesus was condemned to the death penalty.

At the time crucifixion was the “worst” death. Only the worst criminals condemned to be crucified. Yet it was even more dreadful for Jesus, unlike other criminals condemned to death by crucifixion Jesus was to be nailed to the cross by His hands and feet.

Each nail was 6 to 8 inches long.

The nails were driven into His wrist.  Not into His palms as is commonly portrayed. There’s a tendon in the wrist that extends to the shoulder.  The Roman guards knew that when the nails were being hammered into the wrist that tendon would tear and break, forcing Jesus to use His back muscles to support himself so that He could breath.

Both of His feet were nailed together.  Thus He was forced to support Himself on the single nail that impaled His feet to the cross.  Jesus could not support himself with His legs because of the pain so He was forced to alternate between arching His back then using his legs just to continue to breath.  Imagine the struggle, the pain, the suffering, the courage.

Jesus endured this reality for over 3 hours.

Yes, over 3 hours! Can you imagine this kind of suffering?  A few minutes before He died, Jesus stopped bleeding.

He was simply pouring water from his wounds.

From common images we see wounds to His hands and feet and even the spear wound to His side.  But do we realize His wounds were actually made in his body.  A hammer driving large nails through the wrist, the feet overlapped and an even large nail hammered through the arches, then a Roman guard piercing His side with a spear.   But before the nails and the spear Jesus was whipped and beaten.  The whipping was so severe that it tore the flesh from His body.  The beating so horrific that His face was torn and his beard ripped from His face.  The crown of thorns cut deeply into His scalp.  Most men would not have survived this torture.

He had no more blood to bleed out, only water poured from His wounds.

The human adult body contains about 3.5 litres (just less than a gallon) of blood.

Jesus poured all 3.5 litres of his blood; He had three nails hammered into his members; a crown of  thorns on his head and, beyond that, a Roman soldier who stabbed a spear into his chest.

All these without mentioning the humiliation He passed after carrying his own cross for almost 2 kilometers, while the crowd spat in his face and threw stones (the cross was almost 30 kg of weight, only for its higher part, where his hands were nailed).

Jesus had to endure this experience, so that you can have free access to God.

So that your sins could be “washed” away. All of them, with no exception! Don’t ignore this situation. JESUS CHRIST DIED FOR YOU!

Quilt of Holes

Quilt of Holes

As I faced my Maker at the last judgment, I knelt before the Lord along with all the other souls.

Before each of us laid our lives like the squares of a quilt in many piles; an angel sat before each of us sewing our quilt squares together into a tapestry that is our life.

But as my angel took each piece of cloth off the pile, I noticed how ragged and empty each of my squares was. They were filled with giant holes. Each square was labeled with a part of my life that had been difficult, the challenges and temptations I was faced with in every day life. I saw hardships that I endured, which were the largest holes of all.

I glanced around me. Nobody else had such squares. Other than a tiny hole here and there, the other tapestries were filled with rich color and the bright hues of worldly fortune. I gazed upon my own life and was disheartened.

My angel was sewing the ragged pieces of cloth together, threadbare and empty, like binding air.

Finally the time came when each life was to be displayed, held up to the light, the scrutiny of truth. The others rose; each in turn, holding up their tapestries. So filled their lives had been. My angel looked upon me, and nodded for me to rise.

My gaze dropped to the ground in shame. I hadn’t had all the earthly fortunes. I had love in my life, and laughter. But there had also been trials of illness, and wealth, and false accusations that took from me my world, as I knew it. I had to start over many times. I often struggled with the temptation to quit, only to som ehow muster the strength to pick up and begin again. I spent many nights on my knees in prayer, asking for help and guidance in my life. I had often been held up to ridicule, which I endured painfully, each time offering it up to the Father in hopes that I would not melt within my skin beneath the judgmental gaze of those who unfairly judged me.

And now, I had to face the truth. My life was what it was, and I had to accept it for what it was.

I rose and slowly lifted the combined squares of my life to the light.

An awe-filled gasp filled the air. I gazed around at the others who stared at me with wide eyes.

Then, I looked upon the tapestry before me. Light flooded the many holes, creating an image, the face of Christ. Then our Lord stood before me, with warmth and love in His eyes. He said, ‘Every time you gave over your life to Me, it became My life, My hardships, and My struggles.

Each point of light in your life is when you stepped aside and let Me shine through, until there was more of Me than there was of you.’

May all our quilts be threadbare and worn, allowing Christ to shine through!

God determines who walks into your life….it’s up to you to decide who you let walk away, who you let stay, and who you refuse to let go.’

The Collection Plate (a must read)

Every time I read this, I get teary-eyed at the end!

                            — Evangelist Joe Collins

The Collection Plate (a must read)

Here is a true story about a nine year old boy who lived in a rural town in Tennessee.   His house was in a poor area of the community. A church had a bus ministry that came knocking on his door one afternoon. The kid came to answer the door and greeted the bus pastor. The bus pastor asked if his parents were home and the small boy told him that his parents take off every weekend and leave him at home to take care of his little brother. The bus pastor couldn’t believe what the kid said and asked him to repeat it. The youngster gave the same answer and the bus pastor asked to come in and talk with him. They went into the living room and sat down on an old couch with the foam and springs exposed.

The bus pastor asked the kid, ‘Where do you go to church? The young boy surprised the visitor by replying, ‘I’ve never been to church in my whole life.’

The bus pastor thought to himself about the fact that his church was less than three miles from the child’s house. ‘Are you sure you have never been to church?’ he asked again. ‘I sure haven’t’, came his answer. Then the bus pastor said, Well, son, more important than going to church, have you ever heard the greatest love story ever told?’ and then he proceeded to share the Gospel with this little nine year old boy. The young lad’s heart began to be tenderized and at the end of the bus pastor’s story the bus pastor asked if the boy wanted to receive this free gift from God.

The youngster exclaimed, ‘You bet!’ The kid and the bus pastor got on their knees and the lad invited Jesus into his little heart and received the free gift of salvation. They both stood up and the bus pastor asked if he could pick the kid up for church the next morning. ‘Sure,’ the nine old replied.

The bus pastor got to the house early the next morning and found the lights off. He let himself in and snaked his way through the house and found the little boy asleep in his bed. He woke up the little boy and his brother and helped get them dressed. They got on the bus and ate a donut for breakfast on their way to church. Keep in mind that this boy had never been to church before. The church was a real big one. The little kid just sat there, clueless of what was going on.

A few minutes into the service these tall unhappy guys walked down to the front and picked up some wooden plates. One of the men prayed and the kid with utter fascination watched them walk up and down the aisles. He still didn’t know what was going on. All of a sudden like a bolt of lightning it hit the kid what was taking place. These people must be giving money to Jesus. He then reflected on the free gift of life he had received just twenty-four hours earlier. He immediately searched his pockets, front and back, and couldn’t find a thing to give Jesus. By this time the offering plate was being passed down his aisle and with a broken heart he just grabbed the plate and held on to it. He finally let go and watched it pass on down the aisle. He turned around to see it passed down the aisle behind him. And then his eyes remained glued on the plate as it was passed back and forth, back and forth all the way to the rear of the sanctuary. Then he had an idea.

This little nine year old boy, in front of God and everybody, got up out of his seat. He walked about eight rows back, grabbed the usher by the coat and asked to hold the plate one more time. Then he did the most astounding thing I have ever heard of. He took the plate, sat it on the carpeted church floor and stepped into the center of it. As he stood there, he lifted his little head up and said, ‘Jesus, I don’t have anything to give you today, but just me. I give you me!’

I do love Jesus. He is my source of existence and my Savior. He keeps me functioning each and everyday. Without Him, I will be nothing. Without Him, I am nothing. With Him I can do all things.

NAILS DIDN’T HOLD JESUS TO THE CROSS. LOVE DID!

Who are the Elect? Romans 9-11

Dear Evangelist Joe,
Im currently studying this very chapter, and a friend of mine from work is translating it just a little off.

He believes in what’s called the doctrine of the elect…Which obviously the elect is mentioned in Romans ch. 9, but I am pretty sure he is not reading it in the context that Paul was speaking of….

Any input would be greatly appreciated……

From,

—  Gearnut

Dear Gearnut,

Thank you for writting me. The elect are God’s Chosen people, the jews… we (christians) are adopted in. The bible uses the phrase graphed in for Christians. We find this in the book of Romans. This means that we were added as being part of His children, however, we are not the chosen people(Jews). Those graphed in were the Gentiles.

I know what I am about to type is very long so I suggest printing it out and reading it a little at a time Also I hope this helps you

— Evangelist Joe Collins  (Also you can find what im typing in a book called Jerusalem Countdown by Pastor Hagee)

Who is a Jew?

The raging controversy of ‘Who is a Jew?’ has been a hot button issue among the seed of Abraham for more than two thousand years. Modern Israel, with its Zionist principle of the right of return, offers to any Jewish person in the world the privilege to live in Israel and creates the heated debate, Who is a Jew?

For they are not all Israel who are of Israel. — Romans 9 6

In the old testament, when ancient Israel went after other gods, every Jew in Israel was aware of the contrast made by the prophets between the nation as a whole and the remnant (Rom. 11:5). When Christ was born in Bethlehem, the nation of Israel as a whole was going about its business with little true faith. It was only a few, like Mary and Joseph, Elizabeth and Zacharias, who looked for redemption in Jerusalem (Luke 2:38)

When Jesus began His public ministry and saw Nathaniel for the first time, He said, “Here is a true Israelite…”(John 1:47, NIV). This is exactly the distinction Paul is making in this chapter.

Paul’s prime example of a true Israelite was Abraham. Abraham was not saved by circumcision, because he was declared to be righteous before God in Genesis 15:6, which was years before his circumcision. Abraham was not saved by keeping the Law, because the Law was not given until the time of Moses, which was four hundred years after Abraham’s time.

How did Abraham become a “true Israelite”? It was by faith, not works, as indicated in Genesis 15:6: “And he [Abraham] believed in the Lord [faith], and He [the Lord] counted it to him [Abraham] for righteousness.”

Paul writes: “They are not all Israel who are of Israel” (Romans 9:6).

Paul is saying there’s a difference between all those who claim to be “Abraham’s descendants” and those who constitute Israel as “the people of God”.

Paul Demonstrates, first, that Israel is a matter of election rather than birth (Rom. 9:6-11). Not all those called “children of Abraham” (natural descendants) are actually his “seed” as demonstrated in Genesis 21:12, which states, “In Isaac your seed shall be called.”

Remember that Abraham has two sons. His first son was Ishmael, born to the Egyptian maid Hagar. (See Genesis 16.) But, says Paul, Ishmael, though physical descendant of Abraham, was not of the “seed” (Greek word sperma) that produced Isaac, the spiritual child.

Ishmael was reproduced when Abraham was able to have children in his own sexual strength. Isaac was born by a supernatural act of God, since both Abraham and Sarah were well past the age of childbirth.

In Romans 9:8 Paul shifts from “children of the flesh [Abraham]” to “children of God”. The Shift is subtle but very significant. If Abraham’s spiritual seed comes through God’s promise and power, the Jewish people are not simply Abraham’s seed, but quite literally God’s children.

The Controversy Of Divine Election Romans 9:7-12

…nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham; but, “In Isaac your seed shall be called.” that is, those who are the children of the flesh , these are not the children of God; but the children of the promise are counted as the seed. For this is the word promise: “At this time I will come and Sarah shall have a son.” And not only this, but when Rebecca also had conceived by one man, even by our father Isaac (for the children not yet being born, nor having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works but of Him who calls), it was said to her, “The older shall serve the younger.” As it is written, “Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hatred.” – Roman 9:7-13

The doctrine of divine election is, without doubt, the most controversial concept in Scripture. It is far more complex and controversial than the prophecy matrix of Daniel through Revelation or the prophetic explanation of Ezekiel’s war to be led by Russia and its Arab coalition of nations as they invade Israel in Ezekiel 38-39. That coalition will be decimated by the hand of God on the hills of Israel, killing 82 percent of Israel’s enemies.

First, it is obvious that divine election is taught in Scripture. (See Romans 9:27; 11:5, 7, 28.) The question is: To whom is divine election offered? In my opinion, divine election is offered only to the nation of Israel.

Consider what divine election actually means. It means that a loving and gracious God has elected to save some and elected to allow others to be lost for eternity in the fires of hell. Now you can understand the gravity of the controversy.

How can divine election be true if God has given to all men free moral agency, which is the power to choose to accept or to reject God’s offer of salvation? Free will, or free moral agency, means the ability of an individual to make his or her personal choice for or against God, and it is an indisputable fact in Scripture.

Bible Reasons Supporting Free Will

Consider the following ten Bible reasons validating the fact that God gives each individual the right to choose good or evil. Moses said to Israel, “I have set before you life and death…choose life (Deut. 30:19, emphasis added).

John 3:16 is the champion verse of free will: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him [which is an act of free will] should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Ten Bible Reasons Supporting Free Will

1. Romans 2:6-16 – To say that God saves some and sends the others to hell would make God a respecter of persons, which the Bible declares He is not.

2. Malachi 3:6 – Adam was given a choice in the Garden of Eden, The choice was to eat or not to eat the forbidden fruit. He chose to eat it, and angels with flaming swords drove Adam and Eve out of the garden to live under the Genesis curse.
If God left it up to Adam to choose in the beginning, then it is the same for every man today, for the Word declares, “I am the Lord, I do not change.”

3. Romans 9-11 – There is not one verse in the Bible, outside of Romans chapters 9 through 11, that states exclusively God’s position on the Jewish people, which is that [Jewish] man is not a free moral agent all the days of his life either to serve God or Satan.

4. Joshua 24:15 – There are Bible verses to prove that [Gentile] man is a free moral agent: “Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve.”

5. Psalm 119:30 – “I have chosen the way of truth.”

6. Isaiah 7:15 – “Curds and honey He shall eat, that He may know to refuse the evil and choose the good.”

7. Isaiah 66:3 – “…they have chosen their own ways.”

8. Matthew 16:24 – “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself [free will], and take up his cross, and follow Me..”
9. 1 Corinthians 7:37 – “…has power over his own will.”

10. Revelation 22:17 – “Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.”

If divine election is true for Gentiles, as some major denominations teach, why go to church? Why witness? Why evangelize? If God has already determined who is going to go to heaven and who is going to go to hell, why pray? Why read the Bible?

If divine election is true, how can you say, “God is love”? How can the Holy Spirit write in John 3:16 that “God so loved the world…” if He is still going to send most of you to an everlasting hell? (See Matthew 7:13-14.)

Divine election is a fact for some of the Jewish people who are a “remnant according the election of grace” (Rom. 11:5). Divine election simply is not so for Gentiles.

God Begins With Abraham

Now, allow me to make the case for God’s divine election of Israel exclusively. God’s election concerning Israel begins with Abraham, whom God selected out of paganism (Josh. 24:2). Abraham was chosen to become the “father of all who believe.” At the time of Abraham’s election, he had no knowledge of God; therefore, he could not choose God.

It is clear in Scripture that God sought Abraham; Abraham did not seek God. Seeing that “the wickedness of man was great in the earth…his heart was only evil continually” (Gen. 6:5), God chose a man to be the physical and spiritual father of a people (the Jews), one word of the Bible, birth Jesus Christ, and bring the light of God to a world living in total darkness.

Abraham’s election is easy — God had to begin somewhere. God began in Genesis 12 with the father of all who believe, saying, “I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed”(v.3).

Isaac And Ishmael

Saint Paul presents his case for election with the birth of Isaac and Ishmael. When years passed and Abraham and Sarah did not have a son, Sarah suggested to Abraham that perhaps he should have a baby with her Egyptian handmaid, Hagar. Abraham said, “That sounds like the will of God to me, sweetheart” (HAGEE REVISED VERSION). He-he

Abraham and Hagar had Ishmael thirteen years before Isaac was born. His birth was the beginning of a family feud between Jews and Arabs that has endured until this day, dragging humanity toward a nuclear conflict in the Middle East.

Two sons…two choices

Ishmael was Abraham’s physical descendant, yet he was not chosen. The child of promise was Isaac. He was chosen to be the patriarch of “the children of the promise”(Roman 9:8).

There is a point to be considered in the births of Ishmael and Isaac. Ishmael was born when Abraham had the natural ability to produce a son. Isaac was born when both Abraham and Sarah were well past the age of producing children. Therefore, Isaac was born by the supernatural power of God.

This is the division between the natural children of Abraham (Arabs from Ishmael) and the “children of promise” (the Jews from Isaac).

Jacob And Esau Romans 9:9-13

For this is the word of promise: “At this time I will come and Sarah shall have a son.” and not only this, but when Rebecca also had conceived by one man, even by our father Isaac (for the children not yet being born, nor having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works but of Him who calls), it was said to her, “The older shall serve the younger.” As it is written, “Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated.” – Romans 9:-13

The Case of Jacob and Esau is the pinnacle of divine election. Each was a pure-blooded Jew. In the case of Isaac and Ishmael, one could argue that the ancestry of Isaac was better than Ishmael’s; therefore, Isaac was chosen. One could also argue that Ishmael had lived fourteen years and had the opportunity to sin, and this was rejected by God.

Not so with Jacob and Esau. They had the same mother and father and were conceived in the same act of sexual intercourse. The Greek word koite confirms this.

God’s decision contradicted the rules of Eastern society in which the younger brothers serves the older. God reversed the rule – saying the older (Esau) would serve the younger (Jacob). Paul makes it very clear in Romans 9:11 that this was done “that the purpose of God according to election might stand” (emphasis added).

Then God makes a statement that reverberated like thunder: “Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated” (v.13). What a brutal statement for a loving God to make. Why did He do it?

He did it because God knows the end from the beginning. God knew that Esau would be a wild man who would, in part, produce that Edomites, who would attack the children of Israel as they came out of Egypt bound for the Promised Land. Because the Edomites attacked the children of Israel on the way to the Promised Land, God promised to be at war with the descendants of Esau and Amalek forever, until their remembrance was stricken from under heaven. (See Exodus 17:8-16.) Esau’s descendants would also produce a lineage that would attack and slaughter the Jews for centuries. Esau’s descendants included Haman, whose diabolical mind conceived the “final solution” of the Old Testament – the extermination of all Jews living in Persia. It was Esau’s descendants who produced the half-breed Jews of history who have persecuted and murdered the Jews beyond human comprehensions.

Adolf Hitler was a distant descendant of Esau. Pulitzer prize – winning author John Toland, in his book Adolf Hitler, records that Hitler was part Jewish.1 Toland traces his genealogy, which Hitler had destroyed when he came to power as the demonic leader of the Nazi barbarians.

It is no wonder God said, “Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated.” Four thousands years after God made the statement, we have some comprehension as to why He said it. Yet the point bears repeating: it was “that the purpose of God according to election might stand” (Rom. 9:11)

Divine Election And The Jews

Now let’s examine the reasons why I believe divine election applies exclusively to some of the Jewish people.

A condicil intended for the jews
I have made the case that Romans 9-11 is intended exclusively in verses 4-5. Romans was written to the believers in Rome, except for the codicil of Romans 9-11. When correctly interpreting Scripture, you must remember who wrote it, to whom it was written, and for what purpose. The doctrine of election in Romans 9-11 concerns only the Jewish people.

An elect nation
The Bible speaks of Israel as an elect nation. Isaiah writes: “For Jacob My servant’s sake, and Israel My elect, I have even called you by your name” (Isa. 45:4).

When giving His prophecy digest to His twelve disciples on the crest of the Mount of Olives, Jesus said, “And unless those days were shortened [days of the Great Tribulation], no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake [the Jewish people] those days will be shortened” (Matt. 24:22, emphasis added).

For those who believe “the elect” in this verse are Christians, please understand that during the Great Tribulation, Christians will already be in heaven at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.

Two nations
There is no question that when God spoke to Rebekah before the birth of Jacob and Esau He referred to nations – not individuals. Genesis 25:23 records:

And the Lord said to her;
“Two nations are in your womb,
Two peoples shall be separated from your body;
One people [Israel] shall be stronger than the other [Edomites],
And the older [Esau] shall serve the younger [Jacob].”
Later in the Book of Genesis, a considerable amount of Scripture is written to describe the nation that Esau founded, and the remainder is about the nation of Israel.

Christmas Love, the Song! A Touching Story!

The “W” in Christmas

Each December, I vowed to make Christmas a calm and peaceful experience. I had cut back on nonessential obligations – extensive card writing, endless baking, decorating, and even overspending. Yet still, I found myself exhausted, unable to appreciate the precious family moments, and of course, the true meaning of Christmas.

My son, Nicholas, was in kindergarten that year. It was an exciting season for a six year old. For weeks, he’d been memorizing songs for his school’s “Winter Pageant.” I didn’t have the heart to tell him I’d be working the night of the production. Unwilling to miss his shining moment, I spoke with his teacher. She assured me there’d be a dress rehearsal the morning of the presentation. All parents unable to attend that evening were welcome to come then.

Fortunately, Nicholas seemed happy with the compromise. So, the morning of the dress rehearsal, I filed in ten minutes early, found a spot on the cafeteria floor and sat down. Around the room, I saw several other parents quietly scampering to their seats. As I waited, the students were led into the room. Each class, accompanied by their teacher, sat cross-legged on the floor. Then, each group, one by one, rose to perform their song. Because the public school system had long stopped referring to the holiday as “Christmas,” I didn’t expect anything other than fun, commercial entertainment songs of reindeer, Santa Claus, snowflakes and good cheer.

So, when my son’s class rose to sing, “Christmas Love,” I was slightly taken aback by its bold title. Nicholas was aglow, as were all of his classmates, adorned in fuzzy mittens, red sweaters, and bright snowcaps upon their heads. Those in the front row- center stage – held up large letters, one by one, to spell out the title of the song. As the class would sing “C is for Christmas,” a child would hold up the letter C. Then, “H is for Happy,” and on and on, until each child holding up his portion had presented the complete message, “Christmas Love.”

The performance was going smoothly, until suddenly, we noticed her; a small, quiet, girl in the front row holding the letter “M” upside down – totally unaware her letter “M” appeared as a “W”. The audience of 1st through 6th graders snickered at this little one’s mistake. But she had no idea they were laughing at her, so she stood tall, proudly holding her “W”. Although many teachers tried to shush the children, the laughter continued until the last letter was raised, and we all saw it together.

A hush came over the audience and eyes began to widen. In that instant, we understood the reason we were there, why we celebrated the holiday in the first place, why even in the chaos, there was a purpose for our festivities. For when the last letter was held high, the message read loud and clear:

“C H R I S T  W A S    L O V E”

And, I believe, He still is.

Killing in the Name of God

a friend of mine and I were talking to an atheist. The convo started about people being gay, but then it took a twist. Barry, the athiest, tried to “box us in” by using the “killing in the name of God”  attack. This is how i handled the situtation. Also this post is up for debate and discussion. What do you think about what i wrote back with or about “Killing in the name of God”?

Barry first wrote: why is being gay a sin?

my friend’s response:

The reason that its a sin is because God has forbidden it, The Bible clearly points out that it is a sin to be gay. Homosexuals are one of the main reasons we have wide spread aids. Do you really think thats natural for men to do that to each other? or women?

Barry’s Reply : God said it was a sin to murder but you don’t mind murdering in the name of religion?

My response : actually i know that i haven’t murdered anyone and i think i can speak for my firend and say he hasnt either, so barry, when you say “you dont mind murdering in the name of religion” i am thinking you are talking about christians as a whole and more-likely the Catholic Church’s bloody past. Maybe even more likely you are talking about the “holy” crusades?

Well, if you murder in the name of religion, then u have done just that. However, the Bible and God commands “Thou shall not kill (murder)” (Exodus 20). If you kill in the name of religion, then you have done just that, but you have not killed in the name of God. God is against sin and murder is sin. For the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23), however, some people do kill in the “name of God” or will sometimes say that God told them to kill people. Well lets look at both at these things one at a time.

Killing in the name of God : God said thou shall not kill….yet they do. Hum, well that is easily seen then that they know not what the Bible says, nor do they obey what it says. Barry, we have already talked about what the bible calls these kinds of people before, when we were talking about the “priests” you mentioned. These people are called Hypocrities. They claim to be something they are not. Christ, himself, says you shall know them by their fruits. Fruits in this stood for “their actions/what they do”.  So lets write what Christ said in plain english. You shall know them by (their acts) what they do. If i told you i wrote for the New York times, and you call the newspaper company and they tell you that they dont know of me and that i have never written for them before, you would see that i was lieing and being a hypocrite. Same thing here with christianity and people claiming to be it. If someone claims to be something, hold them up to the standard of what they are claiming to be. If they fail at it, then they airnt what they claim to be and you found yourself a false convert, hypocrite.

So if anyone kills in the “name of God”, then they are either very decieved, a false convert, or a hypocrite.   So lets not blaim the real ones for something a fake one did… Lets keep it respectful and not try to mix the two together….

Lets call the hypocrites for what they are and not add them to what christians really are.

“God told me to kill them” : The Bible is very clear that God said Thou shall not kill. However, people do and say God told them to do so. Well the bible says to test the spirits or voices you hear. (Many to claim to hear from God to kill people, say they heard voices in their heads.)

1 John 4:1-6 says this : Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

Here we see that the voices/spirits must be in agreement with the Bible, or it isnt of God. That those who listen to the voices and do the spirit(s) will is a worldly person. So those who kill people and murder them because “God” told them too are not christian but hypocrites and worldly men and women.

So this would point that christians dont do these things, and that those who do, airnt christian but mislead and/or are hypocrites.

Hope i have shown you the diffence so that you will never confuse the two in your mind ever again,

— Joe
